Reunification Information
In hopes of strengthening the commitment to safety protocols in the unlikely event staff and students would have to relocate offsite following an unforeseen incident, Albuquerque Public Schools is issuing the cards that will allow for a safe and organized reunification process.
The cards also will be necessary when a reunification is handled at a school site.
The cards are unique to each student, with a name, bar code and instructions on the back for families to utilize if they have to pick up their student or students during a reunification process.
Each family will receive two cards per student, and most will be distributed very soon.
District officials say the cards will greatly ease the wait and stress in the unlikely event a school has to reunify students with parents/guardians in a non-typical end of the school day. They’ll also make certain a student is headed home safely with an appropriate adult.
The district has produced an informational video for both families and staff members, in hopes of explaining the process more fully. It’s part of an effort to make certain everyone – parents, students and staff – understand what to do in a reunification.
An accompanying video will help explain more about the reunification process, and how it will help families and their students - https://youtu.be/Kfy91pMgEs0?si=dXN_43gRdxekTk27
