Science - Health

 

6th Grade--Earth Science Emphasis

This is a year-long lab-oriented course. In earth science, students are introduced to aspects of geology, astronomy, oceanography, meteorology and paleontology. The goal is to give students an overview of the major topics associated with earth science. Critical, creative, and self-regulated thinking skills are emphasized. This course with also integrate topics from Life and Physical Science.

8th Grade - Physical Science Emphasis

This is a year-long lab-oriented course designed to introduce students to both physics and chemistry. Students will be learn about basic physical science concepts such as energy, motion, machines, and momentum. Chemistry concepts such as the nature of matter, atomic structure, and the periodic table will also be introduced. The course is designed to help students prepare for high school lab science classes.

7th Grade - Health

This is a one semester course. The health education curriculum is designed to help students make positive health-related decisions. Critical thinking, decision making, communication, and goal setting are some of the skills which are emphasized throughout the semester. 
Some of the major topics covered in the course include physical health, emotional health, drug education, disease prevention, and human growth and development.
