In conjunction with the New Mexico Department of Health, we will be providing a free flu vaccine clinic here at Eisenhower Middle School on Thursday, November 2nd in the morning during school hours. We will be giving the injections only, as no Flumist is available this year. If your student is allergic to eggs, or has ever had a serious reaction to the flu vaccine in the past, he/she is not eligible to receive the flu shot at school. Consent forms were sent home in backpack mail on Monday, October 16th and are also posted on the Eisenhower webpage. If you wish for your child to receive the vaccine here at school, please answer all questions and sign the consent form and return it to the Health Office no later than October 27th. Please make sure you include the insurance information and the policy number, especially if it is Medicaid, as the health department will be billing Medicaid this year. If you have any questions, or if you did not receive a form, please contact Janine Maydew, the School Nurse, at 292-2530 extension 3.

EMS Science Fair

The EMS science department is excited to announce that we will be having a Science Fair on January 24, 2018! This optional activity is open to all grade levels. Ms. Daniels, Mrs. Finnegan and Ms. Thomas will be holding student works sessions on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month leading up to the fair in the library from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm. These workshops will begin on October 11 and continue on Oct. 25, Nov. 8, and Dec. 6. Our hope is to send some of our young scientists with outstanding projects to the regional science fair in late March (we won’t know how many slots we have until we see how many students we have for the EMS Fair). The UNM STEM website has many useful tips and information looking ahead to regionals. Science Buddies is another helpful website. If your student is interested, please encourage them to begin searching for project ideas and to come to the after school meetings.

Parents interested in helping out in any capacity should email Tybi.finnegan@aps.edu. Volunteers need to have the required APS Background Check. Thank You!

Parents and Families,

You will find a general supply list that will provide what your student will need throughout the school year on our website. When the school year starts, your student’s teachers may request additional specific supplies.

We advise that they DO NOT bring the entire supply list the first day of school.

Instead, we recommend a notebook, combination lock, folder and one to two writing utensils the first day of school.

Teachers will then advise them as to what they will need to have with them as the first week progresses.

Click on the attachment below for the grade level lists.

Thank you and we look forward to a successful school year for you and your student.

Victor Sanchez

Principal

2/3/2017

Attention parents of Fall of 2017 - 7th grade students:

New Mexico immunization law states that all students entering 7th grade must have a Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccine prior to starting school next year.  Students will not be allowed to pick up their schedules in August 2017 if they have not had this vaccine.  Letters were sent home via backpack mail on February 3rd  2017 with students on whom we have no record of this vaccine. If your student has not had this vaccine yet, please contact your provider to schedule an appointment.  If your child has had this vaccine, please bring a copy of the immunization record to the health room before the end of school in May 2017 so we can update our records. If you have any questions, please contact Janine Maydew, RN at 292-2530 ext. 3.
