Google Classroom

Please click here to access your Google Classroom account. Google Classroom is where all of our assignments will be assigned and turned in. To log into your account you will use your school credentials.

username: StudentID@aps.edu             password: The password you use for the computers at school

Email

Email is one of the most used communication tools in the educational and professional world. I will teach students how to use their email to it's fullest potential. Each student is required to have access to an email account in order to sign up for free educational websites, and to communicate with me.

Agendas

Agendas are required at EMS! Students use their agendas to reference school rules and policies, write hall passes, and keep track of their assignments. Students are expected to write in their agenda daily!  This is a great way to find out what your student is doing in his or her classes!

Other Information

Occasionally I will post links that reflect what your child is learning in class. Check out these links to get some tips on how to bring what your student is learning in class into home conversations.

Course Descriptions

  • Information Technology II- In this semester long course, students will become responsible digital citizens by analyzing the impact of technology on individuals, various communities, and society as a whole with an emphasis on professional, ethical, legal, and social issues and responsibilities. Once students are capable digital citizens they will develop typing and presentation skills by learning how to design, implement, and evaluate various computer programs and applications to meet desired needs. *This course will follow ISTE NETS standards for students.

  • Media Literacy (Yearbook)- In this semester long course the yearbook staff will learn and practice how to accurately gather information, conduct interviews, take quality photos, etc. At times, deadlines and activities require that staff members work before and after school, during lunch, and on the weekends. Students are responsible for all phases of yearbook publication.

  • 8th grade PE- Students will focus on team play, the fundamentals of well rounded fitness, and track fitness goals and activity. They will be exposed to new sports that were not covered in 6th and 7th grade, but we will still keep the favorites. 40% of your student's grade is Participation. It is crucial that your student dresses out and puts forth their best effort everyday.

  • Exploratory Info Tech- In this 9-week course, students will study how to become an inventive and logical decision maker by studying right and left-brain thinking, intuition, and various learning styles. Students will use their critical thinking skills to dismantle complex materials relating to study skills, social situations, and organization. This class is designed to adapt to student interests, needs, and capabilities.
